Sun, Sept 7th – Kick Off Sunday!

For years the Episcopal Church has been known as a place where people drift away somewhat during the summer and many churches choose to combine their services during the summer months in order to have a single worship experience for anyone who wants to come. Virtually all studies ever produced about that specific practice demonstrate that it erodes church participation, enthusiasm, attendance, and giving. We do not, and for the foreseeable future will not (and if we are wise will never) combine the 8 and 10:30 services because ‘it’s summer.’ That has a demonstrably disastrous effect on every church that has ever done it. BUT, even though we do not cancel any programming (we do pause breakfasts, and our blessed cooks deserve the break)… It’s still cool to celebrate the beginning of a new program year. We are going to do all the normal celebratory things even though we didn’t close…
