Parish Leadership Roles
There remain a handful of ministries which could use a point person. Some of these are active leadership, some of them are working with a team of people, some are simply making sure you know who is handling XYZ and you barely pay attention. This list is not comprehensive. We currently lack:
Two Downtown Churches United Representatives (one monthly lunch meeting with the option of helping coordinate planned meals at the Hope Center.)
At least one Finance Committee Member (New Treasurer Elizabeth Chandler was a member of the Finance Committee. It is now her committee! Periodic though irregular meetings throughout the year, participation in the annual audit.)
Flower Guild (Denee Tuck has graciously agreed to manage the flower schedule for the calendar year 2026. She could use as many people as are willing to help with flowers or the altar guild. With the right constellation of people and interest we could combine flower and altar ministries, but that is best begun under the initiative of the people currently serving in those capacities.)
Altar Guild (With two members passing in the last year, there is a large gap in the Altar Guild. Those still serving are doing a valiant job, but could use friends and backup and a break. With the right constellation of people and interest we could combine flower and altar ministries, but that is best begun under the initiative of the people currently serving in those capacities.)
Church Communications (This flexible role can assist with emails, social media, website updates, announcements, service broadcasting, writing for the Bells, etc.—all or just one piece. Currently these tasks fall to staff, which is unusual. Sam and Sherry don't mind but don't always get to everything. In most churches, volunteers and ministry leaders generate this content, then the Administrator and clergy vet and edit. We'll continue as we are unless someone is willing to help shift toward a more lay-led communications strategy.)
